Tom Posegate is a dedicated father, loving husband, and passionate advocate for his community. Born in Alaska, Tom earned his bachelor's degree in history and has always had a deep appreciation for learning. In 2012, he married his wife, Heather, and together they built a life rooted in kindness, honesty, and care for those around them. Now raising their three daughters in Florence, Tom is committed to ensuring that all children in the community have the support and opportunities they deserve.

In 2016, Tom and Heather fell in love with Florence's natural beauty and close-knit spirit. Determined to give their family the best possible home, they quickly knew this was where they wanted to grow their roots. Tom's dedication to education led him to become a substitute teacher and aide during the 2016-2017 school year. His time in the Siuslaw schools gave him a firsthand look at the dedication of educators and the brilliance of students. From kindergarten classrooms and special education programs to woodshop, LEGO robotics, and science labs, Tom saw the passion and potential within the district.

However, Tom also saw the challenges facing the schools. Aging facilities, outdated materials, and a lack of resources continue to limit what educators and students can achieve. Tom believes every child deserves a safe, comfortable learning environment with access to modern resources and enriching programs. He is passionate about making sure Florence’s schools offer opportunities for growth and success to all students, including expanded access to teacher aides, art programs, and essential learning materials.

Proud of his accomplishments both personally and professionally, Tom has shown determination and resilience throughout his life. In 2023, he successfully lost 60 pounds through commitment and discipline. In 2024, he achieved a lifelong goal of climbing Mt. Whitney alongside his father. These experiences reflect his unwavering dedication to setting goals and seeing them through—a mindset he will bring to the Siuslaw School Board.

As a stay-at-home dad, Tom has spent years nurturing his daughters and understanding the importance of strong educational foundations. His desire to create a better future for his own children drives his passion for advocating for all children in the district. Tom is a strong listener, a thoughtful decision-maker, and a firm believer in putting children first. He envisions a school system that fosters growth, inclusivity, and opportunity for every student.

Now, Tom is ready to serve his community as a member of the Siuslaw School Board. He believes Florence can be a place that tells every child, “We value you. We support you. Your future matters.” With your support, Tom will work tirelessly to ensure that every student in Siuslaw schools has the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.
